Bible Bowl is an annual opportunity to dive into the Word of God! Bible Bowl games that are played through Northeastern Conference are sponsored by the Northeastern Conference Youth Ministries Department of the Seventh-day Adventists. Although sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, non Seventh-day Adventist can and are encouraged to participate at the church level. These games are intended to encourage youth, young adults and adults to study the Word of God and to find a degree of enjoyment while doing so.
Each year youth, young adults and adults within their respective peer groups gather together to play Bible Bowl games. These peer groups are Pre-Junior, ages 6-9, Junior Youth, ages 10-15, Senior Youth, ages 16-22, Young Adult, ages 23-35 and Adult, ages 36+. After receiving guidance from their team coaches and Conference Coordinator, they demonstrate their ability to answer random questions from the Scriptures within a four-second time frame.
In 1979, Pastor Trevor H. C. Baker, while serving as Youth Ministries Director of our Conference, was impressed by the Holy Spirit to conceive and create the Bible Bowl game in his quest to awaken the interest of the young people within his youth societies, and strengthen their devotional life.
The game, which is patterned after the order of the old television show, General Electric College Bowl of the 1960s, was designed to encourage Bible reading and study among the young people, and to allow them to experience a measure of enjoyment while doing so.
After 35 years, Bible Bowl is strong and gaining interest among our youth and young adults. This year is shaping up to be a banner year. Here you will find information for this season.
